Lighting and Power Sockets Installed for St Alban’s Academy – Highgate, Birmingham
SPB Electrical Services recently installed new lighting and power sockets for St Alban’s Academy, a secondary school and sixth form located in the Highgate area of Birmingham. As with all the work that we carry out, we ensured that all installations were 100% compliant with current government regulations.
As schools use huge amounts of energy on a daily basis, St Alban’s Academy decided to find ways to reduce their energy use. To help the school to save energy, we installed new motion controlled lighting in a school office. The new lighting system is controlled by a movement sensor that responds to body temperature and movement, so lights are only activated when they are needed. This prevents lights from accidentally left on overnight or over the weekend, contributing towards cutting down the school’s energy consumption.
We also installed new office power sockets within PVC dado trunking to provide more direct mains access for computer systems and other electrical devices without the need for extension cables. Dado trunking allows us to install new mains sockets quickly and accurately to prevent disruption to the school, as well as ensuring that all electrical wiring is well insulated to comply with health and safety standards.
